Vinegar Pie
 
  Ingredients:

2 tbsp
  unsalted butter
 
1/2 cup
  granulated sugar
 
1/8 tsp
  kosher salt
 
3 tbsp
  flour, all-purpose
 
1 tsp
  cinnamon
 
1/4 tsp
  allspice
 
1/4 tsp
  cloves
 
1
  egg
 
1 cup
  water
 
2 tbsp
  white vinegar
 
1
  9 inch pastry shell
   
  Directions:
   
  Cream butter and sugar. Add the next four dry ingredients along with the next three wet ingredients. Mix to well blended. Cook in top of double boiler until thickened stirring constantly. In preheated 350 degree oven bake pastry shell for 3 minutes. Remove from oven and pour filling into pie shell. Return pie to oven and continue baking for 40 minutes or till crust becomes brown. Let set for 30 minutes before serving.
   
  Chef Notes:
   
  Make sure not to use apple cider vinegar. The cider flavor changes the taste completely.
Granulated sugar just means white sugar. I always use regular granulated sugar and not fine granulated sugar. The fine sugar seems to breakdown easier.
